Convert PNG to WebP in 3 Steps

No account, no install, no queue. Drop your PNG files in and the WebP versions are ready to download.

  1. Step 1

    Drop your images in

Drag files onto the page, click to browse, or drop in a ZIP and every supported image inside is pulled out. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF and BMP all work, mixed together in the same batch.

  2. Step 2

    Adjust if you want to

Choose your output format and drag the quality slider. That is the whole setup. Settings holds a KB target, resizing and batch renaming if you want them, and can stay closed if you do not.

  3. Step 3

    Download your WebP files

Conversion starts on its own, so there is usually nothing to press. Batches over 40 wait for one click so nothing runs away with your machine. Download files one at a time or take the whole batch as a single ZIP.

Why Convert PNG to WebP?

PNG is the standard when you need transparency and lossless detail. Screenshots, logos, UI assets, product images with transparent backgrounds. The trade-off is file size. A single PNG can easily weigh 2-5 MB, and when you have dozens on a page, the performance cost adds up fast. WebP, developed by Google, delivers the same visual fidelity at 25-35% smaller file sizes, supports transparency, and is natively recognized by every modern browser including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Opera.

PNG

Portable Network Graphics

PNG uses lossless compression. What you save is exactly what you get, with zero quality degradation. It's the default for screenshots, interface elements, logos, icons, and any graphic where sharp edges and transparency matter. The downside is that lossless compression produces significantly larger files than lossy alternatives.

WebP Image Format

WebP supports both lossy and lossless compression, alpha transparency, and animation. All in one format. A typical PNG converted to WebP at quality 80-90 shrinks by 25-35% with no perceptible visual difference. Google recommends WebP for web performance, and it's the format behind faster Largest Contentful Paint scores and better Core Web Vitals.

  • What surprised me was that it stays responsive during a big batch. The page does not lock up, the progress updates, and I can keep working in another tab.

Sana TariqPublishing assistant Karachi, Pakistan · Aug 2026
  • Being able to upload a ZIP and download a ZIP is what makes this usable for real work. I am not selecting 200 PNG files by hand and I am definitely not downloading 200 WebP files one at a time.

Sophie LambertPortfolio designer Paris, France · Jul 2026
  • Clear error messages when something is wrong. I had a file that was a renamed PNG and it told me the contents did not match the extension rather than just failing silently.

Rachel GreenNonprofit comms Seattle, United States · May 2026
  • Our product pages were loading slowly on mobile and it was almost entirely image weight. Converting the PNG catalogue to WebP cut the total page size by more than half.

James WhitfieldFront-end developer Manchester, United Kingdom · May 2026
  • Tried the usual suspects including Photoshop. The difference here is no file cap and no watermark on the free tier, because there is no paid tier to upsell you to.

Hannah VogelOnline shop owner Hamburg, Germany · Mar 2026
  • The thing that sold me is that there is no upload. I opened devtools, converted twenty PNG files to WebP, and watched the network panel stay empty. That is a real privacy claim, not marketing copy.

Nur AisyahContent strategist Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia · Mar 2026
  • PNG is great for lossless detail and transparency, but enormous file sizes is a real problem once you have a few hundred of them. Converting to WebP fixed that without me having to think about codecs.

Dmitri VolkovSystems administrator Moscow, Russia · Jan 2026
  • Used it on Windows at the office and on a Mac at home with identical results. No install, no licence, nothing to sync.

Fatima Al-MansouriBrand manager Dubai, United Arab Emirates · Dec 2025
  • The batch handling is the reason I keep this bookmarked. 150 PNG images to WebP in one pass, with a progress bar that actually tells you which file it is on. Most converters choke well before that.

Ben OkonkwoWeb developer Birmingham, United Kingdom · Nov 2025
  • The comparison slider is what earned my trust. Being able to drag across the actual image and check the WebP output against the original PNG before downloading is not something the other free tools bother with.

Mariam SultanFashion e-commerce Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates · Oct 2025
  • Added some files mid-batch and the button changed to say it would only process the new ones. Little detail, but it means I am not reconverting work that is already done.

Farhan SiddiquiDigital marketer Rawalpindi, Pakistan · Sep 2025
  • What surprised me was that it stays responsive during a big batch. The page does not lock up, the progress updates, and I can keep working in another tab.

PNG to WebP Conversion and Compression Explained

What changes when you convert PNG to WebP, what it costs, and how to pick a quality setting you will not regret.

PNG earns its place wherever an image has hard edges or a transparent background. It is lossless, so what you save is exactly what you get. The cost is size: a single full-page screenshot regularly lands between 1.5 MB and 6 MB, and a page carrying twenty of them is a slow page. Converting to WebP keeps the image looking the same while removing most of that weight.

Going from a lossless format to WebP means the encoder is deciding what to discard. At quality 80 to 90 that decision is invisible on photographs and near-invisible on interface screenshots. Below about 65 you start to see it around text and sharp edges, which is why the before and after slider is worth using on the first file of any batch.

Set quality once and it applies to the whole batch, so a folder of two hundred files takes the same number of decisions as one. Everything runs on your own machine, so speed depends on your processor rather than on how busy a server is. If you are working to a hard limit, such as a content management system that rejects anything over 200 KB, open Settings and set a maximum file size instead of a quality percentage. The encoder then searches for the best quality that fits your budget, file by file.

All Formats. One Tool.

PNG to WebP is one of twenty-four conversion paths here, and each one has its own page with defaults already set for that pair. Whichever you land on, the tool behind it is the same: it accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF and BMP, reads ZIP archives, and handles up to 500 images in a single batch.

Conversion runs in your browser using your own processor, so nothing is uploaded, nothing is queued behind other people, and there is no account, no watermark and no daily cap. Close the tab and the files are gone from memory; they were never anywhere else.

If you need a smaller file rather than a different format, the image compressor keeps your originals and works to a quality level or a size in kilobytes. To change dimensions, the image resizer handles fit, fill and crop, or stretch across a whole folder at once.
